Who should attend
This highly informative 1/2 day course is for those involved or working, (even as a temporary measure), on Water Company sites such as service reservoirs, pumping stations, treatment works and working on the network of water mains and service pipes.
Working on a clean "potable" water network is classified as working on a "Restricted Operation" site. In order to work on or provide services for these Water Network sites, there is a requirement for those involved to be in possession of a valid EUSR National Water Hygiene card ( previously known as the "blue stripe card" )
External trades such as carpenters, electricians, pump technicians, scaffold erectors, plant maintenance crews and support drivers are an example of some of those who require to attend a clean water site to carry out support contracts, whilst not necessarily working directly on the water assets, they could potentially cause contamination to the network and illness in the community, if they are unaware of their obligations on site.
Aims
Throughout the training the emphasis will be placed on the individual and that it is their 'duty' to protect public health, particularly when working on a Water Network site.
A health screening declaration is carried out to ensure that attendees about to be accredited have not been in contact or are not carriers of any communicable diseases on date of training.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training event delegates will be able to describe their obligations and be aware of their responsibilities towards the protection of the potable water supply and thus help prevent illness in the community as a result of contaminating the water supply
Disinfection of tools / fittings, use and storage, using approved products, thus preventing contamination
Course Method
Classroom theory, with discussion, followed by a multiple choice questionnaire.
Benefits
The candidate will be accredited with a water hygiene card that allows them to get on or provide services to restricted operation sites.
